Getting a date is the easy part. Converting it into a second date (and a third, and a…) is tougher. Many guys boast about the number of women they’ve been out with. What they won’t tell you is that none of these women agreed to meet them again. Here are some things to avoid, if you want to ensure that your first date does transform into a longer-term relationship of substance.

The biggest mistake guys make is that they try too hard to impress. Yes, we know that you have to make an impression, but don’t go overboard. If you keep talking about your educational qualifications, or your biceps, she’s bound to get bored, or may even see your efforts as a sign of desperation.

Another thing you can avoid is touching here. Sure, shake her hand, but don’t keep pawing her at every opportunity you get. Also, don’t go on talking about her body. She’ll certainly know what’s on your mind then.

Finally, try picking up the tab. You don’t have to do it on the subsequent dates, but for the first one, pick it up. You don’t want to be mistaken for a miser, right?
